Poultry Farmer Stabilization Grant Program Application Now Open

In August, Gov. Kay Ivey announced that $26 Million of CARES Act Funds would be used to assist Alabama Agriculture impacted by COVID-19. These funds were used to establish the Alabama Agricultural Stabilization Program, or AASP.
The application period for the Poultry Farmer Stabilization Grant Program portion of the AASP is now open. Applications for the poultry program will be available at agi.alabama.gov or crf.alabama.gov at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020. The new deadline for applications is Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. This program will assist poultry farmers that experienced disruptions due to COVID-19.
Broiler growers that have experienced downtimes of over 17 days, density reductions of 10 percent or more, or both between March 13 and Oct. 15, 2020, will be eligible.
In addition to the broiler program, pullet growers that have experienced downtimes of over 42 days and breeder growers that have experienced downtimes of over 56 days will be eligible. The downtimes must have occurred between March 13 and Oct. 15, 2020.
Applications for the Poultry Farmer Stabilization Grant Program will be available at agi.alabama.gov or crf.alabama.gov at 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 and the deadline to submit applications is November 6, 2020.

Alabama Agriculture Stabilization Program Poultry Breeder Growers Eligibility
Before proceeding through the application, please verify that you are eligible. In order to be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria, provide the required documentation, and successfully submit the application for review.
Application Period Opens Tuesday, October 13th at 9:00 am and ends on Friday, November 6th.

1. You must be an Alabama resident.
2. You must be able to provide documentation that you were a poultry grower of breeder chickens and that you:
Experienced downtimes over 56 days between March 13, 2020 and October 15, 2020
Have not received full compensation from your integrator for these disruptions
3. ADAI will require each applicant to submit the following to qualify for eligibility:
Copy of W-9
Successful submission of this application and signed certification and assurances form.
Statement describing the square footage of poultry houses on your farm.
Please note:
Eligible breeder growers will be compensated for Increased Downtime using the following formula:
Total compensation = (Number of days of downtime over 56 days x $0.0075 sq. foot x Number of square feet in poultry houses) minus any compensation paid by poultry integrator

Before proceeding through the application, please verify that you are eligible. In order to be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria, provide the required documentation, and successfully submit the application for review.

1. You must be an Alabama resident.
2. You must be able to provide documentation that you were a poultry grower of broiler chickens and that you:
Experienced downtimes over 17 days between March 13, 2020 and October 15, 2020,
Experienced density reduction of 10% or more between March 13, 2020 and October 15, 2020, or
Experienced both, downtimes over 17 days and a density reduction of 10% or more between March 13, 2020 and October 15, 2020, and
Have not received full compensation from your integrator for these disruptions
3. ADAI will require each applicant to submit the following to qualify for eligibility:
Copy of W-9
Successful submission of this application and signed certification and assurances form.
Applicable settlement sheets for each flock.
Statement describing the square footage of poultry houses on your farm
Please note:
Eligible broiler growers will be compensated for Increased Downtime using the following formula:
Total compensation = (Number of days of downtime over 17 days x $0.005 sq. foot x Number of square feet in poultry houses) minus any compensation paid by poultry integrator.
Eligible broiler growers will be compensated for Density Reduction of 10% or more using the following formula:
Total compensation = (% Density cut x Contracted rate of pay x Pounds sold) minus any compensation paid by poultry integrator. *Contracted rate of pay is also known as base rate of pay.
