Tyson Foods Inc.’s three Alabama complexes hosted their Tyson Foods/Loyd Eddy Memorial Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament at the Twin Bridges Golf Course in Gadsden, Ala., on July 29, 2004.
      Industry affiliates from all over the state came out to participate in the event. Approximately 120 golfers participated in the tournament and more than $11,000 in scholarship funds were raised. Proceeds from the tournament fund poultry science scholarships at Auburn University for the children of poultry producers and/or Tyson Foods employees.
     The first scholarship was awarded in 2000. According to John Pittard, complex manager at the Oxford operation, around $20,000 in scholarships have been awarded over the past five years. The tournament is held annually in hopes of endowing the scholarship fund.
      "This year's golf tournament was really a success," said Pittard. "We'd like to thank the players, our sponsors and everyone who helped to make it possible."
