AP&EA hosted its annual meeting golf tournament at the Sandestin Baytowne course on Monday, August 2, 2004. The tournament began at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
      Casey Jones, the tournament chair, stated that he felt the golf tournament was a huge success. “Everyone who plays in our golf tournament seems to have a great time and the course was in excellent shape this year,” said Jones.
      It seems that all participants enjoyed
the event, especially tournament champi-
ons Camp Powers, Russell Hodgins and
Wally Taylor, who have bragging rights
until next year’s competition.
      Continual efforts are made to improve the tournament each year. Jones    is    frequently     tweaking    the

tournament to ensure that it is a hit. He affirmed that the course’s staff is a big part of the event’s success. Jones states, “The staff at the Sandestin courses go out of their way to accommodate the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association and we are looking forward to next year.”

     At the annual awards ceremony held between the silent and live auctions at AP&EA’s annual meeting, Roger Chappell was presented with the Association’s prestigious Distinguished Service Award.
      The Distinguished Service Awards are presented to people who have over a period of time displayed their willingness to work for the improvement of the poultry industry and the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association.
      Roger has contributed countless hours and untold energy to this Association  and   our  industry.  He  has
served as chairman of the Allied Committee and is currently serving as chairman of the Investment Committee in addition to serving as a member of the board of directors for 10 years, the Executive Committee for three years and on numerous committees including the Alabama Poultry Foundation.
      The AP&EA members, board of directors and staff would like to congratulate Roger Chappell on this well deserved honor as well as thank him for all that he has done.
