The 52nd annual meeting of the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association was held at the Hilton Sandestin, August 1-2, 2004. Members from all over the state came to attend a business meeting as well as enjoy the recreation of the event which included golf, silent and live auctions, a quilt raffle and a trip to Big Kahuna's water park.
     While all events were high in attendance, the highlight of the meeting was the auction. Both silent and live auctions were conducted and some items were sold for as much as $2,000. Ahand-made poultry quilt, donated by Denise Pittard, was raffled at the meeting and raised more than $1,000. The proceeds from the auctions and raffle totaled approximately $20,000, a new record in auction funds.
      Between the two auctions, "Evening of Fun" ticket sales awards were

presented to the ticket sales winners andRoger Chappell was honored with the Distinguished Service Award. After all the awards had been handed out, Wally Taylor passed the gavel to Mack Watson, officially recognizing him as AP&EA's new president for the upcoming year.
     Following the omelet breakfast on Monday morning, August 2, many families  enjoyed  a  day of

sun and fun at Big Kahuna's water park, while nearly  70 players  took   to the golf course in hopes of becoming the tournament champion.
     “I feel that the meeting was a success and     that     all      events    were    well

attended,” said incoming president Mack Watson. “We welcome any comments on improving the meeting further.”
