The
Butler County Poultry Association met on Friday, November 22 at the YMCA in
Greenville, Ala. A board meeting was held prior to the event. Board members,
lead by association President Tom Crenshaw, discussed possible sites for their
annual banquet to be held February 15, 2003. Steven
Brown, an extension economist, and Rusty Parrish, county extension agent for
Butler County, both spoke at the meeting. Members who attended earned two
hours of continuing education credit toward CAFO certification.
“We restructured our meetings to give our members
a minimum of eight hours of continuing education a year,” said Crenshaw.
Brown spoke on farm business management and income
tax preparation while Parrish discussed the phosphorus index and Internet
researching methods regarding waste management.
