Novas
International, St. Louis, Mo., recently donated $100,000 to create the Novus
International Research Award in Auburn University’s College of Agriculture.
The donation was presented to the college officials
at the International Poultry Exposition on January 28.
Officials say the gift is contingent upon the
university raising an additional $100,000 in matching funds.
“We are grateful for Novus’ vision and
support of our programs at Auburn University.” Interim Dean John Jensen
said. “The students in the College of Agriculture will benefit from Novus’
generosity for generations to come.”
The
award is scheduled to be given annually to a graduate student conducting “cutting-edge
research in animal nutrition, metabolism, growth and development or health and
disease.”
Students may submit written applications for the award
and/or be nominated by their major professor.
The recipient will be chosen by a selection committee
made up of the head of the college of Agriculture’s Awards Committee,
two faculty members from the college and a Novus representative.
